Dürüm kebab (or its Middle Eastern counterpart shawarma) is hardly the trendiest food around these days, with its popularity in the early 2000s having led to an excessive number of mediocre spots serving the Turkish dish. But some places do it just right — despite its very modest-looking setting in a shed, Koc Kebab in Åbyhøj Torv is absolutely one of them.
With an unlikely location in the sleepy and affluent Åbyhøj, Koc serves up cheap yet delicious kebab that ticks all the right boxes. It’s not particularly adventurous, but the flavourful spices, the well-prepared beef, and the excellent ratio of meat to salad means it just works. The chili and garlic dressing, too, complements the wraps well without being overpowering. In all, it’s no wonder Koc Kebab has on multiple occasions received the honour of being named Aarhus’ best kebab.
For just 45 DKK, you can grab a hearty meal to go, whether for dinner or to combat a lunch hangover. Koc Kebab is definitely worth a visit for hungry people finding themselves in Åbyhøj.
